Chances look very slim that the $20 million, 2.7-megawatt wave-energy system to be built by Oceanlinx Ltd. off Maui will ever happen.
An official with the Australian-based company told PBN in an email that, “as time has passed, it has become clear that the local utility company [Maui Electric Co.] cannot or is not in a position to deliver their promises to Oceanlinx.”
Amani Shariff of Oceanlinx also pointed out that while it is a disappointment, the company is still keen to pursue another opportunity…
